Why do students like to come to Wilmslow Tuition Centre for GCSE preparation?
In feedback, students consistently say that they enjoy their lessons and that they see a dramatic improvement in school grades within a few weeks of starting.
Folders are provided for students to organise their work.
Students are given regular tests outside lesson time so that tailored feedback can be given to improve each students’ grade.
Accelerated revision programmes offered during February, Easter and May school holidays
In Biology, Chemistry and Physics the AQA GCSE specification is followed. All three sciences are covered with Year Nine to Eleven.
Creative, dynamic lessons by subject specialists
Colourful, concise revision cards are provided for each science. These are tailored to the specification with examiner tips and mark scheme terminology.
Past questions are practiced in the lesson and given for home work. This means that the student knows exactly what is required by the board and how to achieve a top grade.
Students enjoy their lessons and feel that they are progressing and building a deeper understanding from their first lesson. Their confidence increases and this improves learning in school.

GCSE English and English literature
The AQA specification is followed – but Edexcel, WJEC and iGCSE are also offered subject to demand. Lessons are delivered in small groups across Y9, Y10 and Y11.
Students are able to choose both Language and Literature delivered together or as separate subjects. Where they are studied together worked examples extend to using Language skills around the analysis of set texts.
Students enjoy being able to see at each stage how they are improving while having the opportunity to reflect and reinforce where necessary. Takeaway tasks are given at the conclusion of each lesson and regular tests outside of lesson time afford valuable individual feedback.
Maths is taught in small groups in Y9, Y10 and Y11 with many of our students achieving exam results far above what had been expected from them in school.
Our approach is to ensure students fully understand the topics they study and practise the key skills. Importantly, students are encouraged to apply their skills and understanding in a variety of contexts as required for the problem-solving style questions in the 9-1 specification.
Students benefit from consistently high-quality teaching delivered by subject specialist teachers. Regular tests are offered to students outside of class time and valuable feedback given to improve outcomes.
