GCSE English Language & Literature Tuition
Dr Tiffany leads engaging, vibrant discussion groups in English. English language and literature are taught separately with language lessons throughout the term and special intensive literature lessons in the holidays.
Beautiful, concise notes are given to scaffold learning. Students enjoy being able to see at each stage how they are improving while having the opportunity to reflect and reinforce where necessary. Takeaway tasks are given at the conclusion of each lesson and regular tests outside of lesson time afford valuable individual feedback.
In literature, a series of intensive sessions concentrating on specific texts drawn from the AQA syllabus is available. The first session is in September but it begins fully in October half term and should be booked early:
- Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet
- An Inspector Calls
- Animal Farm
- A Christmas Carol
- The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
- Poetry Anthology: Love and Relationships
- Poetry Anthology: Power and Conflict
- Unseen Poetry
This list is not definitive and subject to demand additional texts can be drawn from the AQA and Edexcel syllabuses.
Classes will concentrate on reinforcing essentials from characters and context to the writer's techniques and the analysis of literary and poetic features. In addition, past papers and worked examples will form an integral part of each session.
