For many years I have attended wilmslow tuition centre, and throughout my academic endeavours of GCSES and A-LEVELS this is by far the best decision I have made. Not only has it helped me reach my full potential academically but also given me so much extra support whenever I have needed it. The teachers especially Andrea always go above and beyond to provide extra help, support, resources and advice in every area possible. Although my lessons in the centre taught me so much subject wise, they have also always been extremely enjoyable, the warm, friendly and encouraging environment is what makes the centre so special. I now look forward to the next chapter of my life, studying cancer biology at Bristol university. Andrea, along with my other teachers inspired and gave me the confidence to apply for this course and truly made me fall in love with my subjects especially biology. My brother and sister will now be attending Wilmslow tuition and I would have no doubts in recommending the centre to any of my friends and family.I will definitely be staying in touch along with some of the great friends I made in the centre.

I have attended WTC from Y11-13. Before attending WTC, I struggled to find good revision and exam techniques and to understand key mark-scheme points to help me achieve all the marks in my answers. As soon as I started WTC I noticed an improvement in my confidence, revision technique and understanding of each subject.
I valued the resources most especially the topic notes and exam question booklets. These were not only used in lessons but were also a great help when I revised at home and in school.
Tuition helped me to understand and learn key mark scheme points so I could answer exam questions concisely and save time in the exam. I learnt some really useful study techniques which I will continue to use in med school.

Before coming to WTC I didn’t feel confident that I’d get my grades. I didn’t have a strong understanding. For me the key benefit was getting exposure to numerous exam questions. The tutors made sure we practised and so my confidence improved and I felt exam ready.
Small friendly groups ensured that it was easy to freely ask questions and listen to other peoples questions that I perhaps hadn’t thought of myself. I have tried home/ private tutors but I found that being in a small group was more beneficial. It is easier to learn with others contributing. Lessons are more fun and engaging and so I can concentrate for longer. If your confidence to engage in normal school classes is low then WTC definitely helps.
After revising topics at WTC and then doing a test in school I noticed my grades improve.

I didn’t feel confident when I first came. I had struggled through sixth form and my grades weren’t consistent. I particularly struggled with application questions. The biggest benefit for me was the detailed notes and exposure to practise lots of past exam questions and improve my exam technique. I noticed a difference almost immediately – little tweaks to my exam performance really made my grade go up.
The numerous exam resources with detailed and summarised notes highlighting keywords, exam questions and mark scheme answers as well as weekly clinics where you can come and ask any questions, made a huge difference.
In my experience WTC was so much better than other local tutors. There is more focus on exam technique, which is what most A level students like me struggle with, so I saw a much quicker improvement in my grades. Plus even in groups you get as much one to one time as you need and it is good to have thinking time too.
The experience has taught me to have more confidence in my ability to do analysis and calculation questions and these were the questions I had struggled with the most.”

Before starting at WTC I was getting mainly Bs in my GCSE mocks, WTC allowed me to identify and work on my weak point and consolidate and build on knowledge I had gained from school. I went on to receive A*s in all the subjects I was tutored in at WTC. I felt the tuition had helped me work to the top of my ability and I decided to continue the tuition at A-level. Again the tuition helped me by spending extra time on areas I was weak in, and having a different teaching approach can be helpful if the way the topic was taught in school didn’t make sense. At WTC I was also taught how to answer exam questions well and score on all of the mark scheme points. WTC helped me achieve AAA atA-level in chemistry, maths and biology which has allowed me to go on to study dentistry at the University of Liverpool.

Before coming to Wilmslow Tuition Centre I was massively struggling with the intense step up from GCSE to A-Level Biology, in terms of the greater workload combined with the significantly harder content. I was recommended to WTC by a friend, for which I am extremely grateful. I initially did 1-to-1 sessions with Andrea in which we covered a large amount of content in great detail, and soon switched to small 1-4 sessions. The advantage of these sessions compared to school is due to the smaller numbers, there is more attention to detail as well as contact between student and teacher as opposed to lessons in school, where it is much easier for students to fall behind as different parts of the class are working at different paces. If there was anything I was struggling with I was helped by the tutor and able to overcome it straight away. Regular manageable amounts of work set to do at home as well as constant tests throughout the year ensure that any new content learnt is retained after the session and after only a few weeks at the Tuition Centre I noticed that my grades in school were improving. As soon as I found out that similar sessions were available for Maths and Chemistry I was keen to join them, and found that they helped in a similar way. The Tuition Centre also taught me new revision techniques that were synoptic across all three of the subjects that I had never tried before, and were vital to me achieving the grades that I aimed for- which when I initially joined I was worried that I wouldn’t attain."
