The beginnings

Wilmslow Tuition Centre began as a 1-1 tuition service conducted in the conservatory of my house over10 years ago. Teaching biology and chemistry for many years in prestigious schools in London I wanted to return home to Cheshire and start my own business. Subsequently, I was joined by Ian, an ex-colleague and teacher of maths. Soon, due to demand for our services, we expanded to running small groups, mostly at weekends.

Small groups were hugely popular with students who benefitted from the structure of the lessons, the support, learning scaffold and the time provided for independent question practice. Parents were also pleased that while the amount of time increased, we kept the fee low.

The Centre

It was only a matter of time before we needed to move the tuition service to bigger, dedicated premises in the town. Luckily we found our present location in Altrincham Road, where we’ve been building our small community of students and teachers over the past 4 years

Students started to bring their friends and a small community of dedicated teachers and hard-working students was formed.  This is what we have today.

We are now all looking forward to returning to the Centre and having face-to-face lessons.

And the future? In these singular and challenging times supporting young people’s learning and development has never been so important. We hope to continue supporting the needs of students at the important stages of their school career.
